The properties of HIPS materials stem from the synergistic effect between the polystyrene matrix and the rubber phase.

  The key features are as follows
Significant improvement in impact resistance
Compared to ordinary polystyrene (PS), HIPS has its impact resistance enhanced by the reinforcing effect of rubber particles, increasing by 3-5 times. It maintains good toughness even in low-temperature environments and is less prone to cracking and breaking (while ordinary PS is prone to cracking at low temperatures 

 
Excellent Processability
It retains the thermoplastic property of polystyrene and can be molded through conventional plastic processing methods such as injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding.
     The processing temperature range is wide (generally 180-230℃), with good fluidity, making it suitable for the mass production of complex-shaped products (such as parts with grooves and snap-in features

 
Excellent Appearance and Colorability
The surface is smooth, making it easy to be printed, painted or laminated.
     It can be made into various colors (such as white, black, and colored), meeting the appearance requirements of different scenarios (such as the colored design of home appliance shells)
Cost-effective
The production process is mature, and the raw material cost is lower than that of engineering plastics such as ABS and PC 
     It has a high cost-performance ratio and is suitable for scenarios where cost sensitivity is required but certain impact resistance is also needed.
 Mechanical Properties Balance 
 The tensile strength and hardness are moderate (better than PE slightly lower than ABS), which can meet the structural requirements of daily items and general industrial parts. 
The rigidity is good, and the dimensional stability is superior to PE and PP. The molded products are less prone to deformation (such as in the size control of precision parts
boxes and trays for industrial parts, requiring light weight and the ability to withstand certain impacts 
become common materials in fields such as household appliances, packaging, and daily necessities. However, their limitations in heat resistance and weather resistance also determine that they are more suitable for applications at normal temperatures and non-extreme environments.,HIPS
